Since hide is bugged and cannot be fixed..

If mages use pet to follow the dagger with hide and know where he is, isnt it considered to be exploiting the bug and bannable?

As long as he doesn't hit you while invisible, it is permitted. Have a little more patience, with the upcoming update, all of the current problems will disappear.
