Title: Russian Translation...
Post by: iKoza on November 28, 2010, 08:49:26 PM
It's okay to see an Russian translation to quests, but sometimes it's confusing. Can't you put somebody like "Language NPC" in each village, to change the language of the game? And it will be like a gate for another translations into another languages. Think about it.

He is talking about the npc texts in game, which are server side. I don't think what you ask is possible. The current setup is more then fine, i don't know how you could be confused by it.

I don't like it either, I was asking around how to get rid of the Russian text, but thanks for saying it's server side now I'm gonna go wrist.

Actually, more or less, it's quite confusing, in the past of years, we're using to mad scroll down for some long quest text or NPC options, and we got used of it, now with this russian text you need to pay attention and be careful, which is, for me, quite annoying.

Usually, at the end of npc's dialog windows, there are links towards other html/texts. You can fast scroll down and at the end of those links russian language starts. That's an easy and fast way to guide ur self in those texts, if the obvious change in dialect/letters used is not enough.

thats what I do, still somehow I found the Russian text retarded, might I ask as well for Spanish, Portuguese and god knows more. I know the server belongs to "Russians" but I doubt it has more Russians than other countries. So keeping it in English is way better for anyone, if it was a patchable thing, for me it was perfect (like the Interface Language) I could delete it or stuff, but since its server side, seriously :<

English isn't my main language as well with other 4, I had to learned it, everyone should do it, since is the global language to communicate between each other.

Point is: Making those text a patchable file instead of server side.

You're missing the point, btw never it's too late to learn.

@SplichO I'll give you one example: The blacksmith, per example, it already had a big scroll bar with roleplaying text and countless of options, people were used to scroll down till it stops and choice fast whatever they wanted to do, in here it's another story.

This IS possible.

Let's say everybody will have a Quest Scroll (Item) named "Language: XXX". The NPC's will say text in the chosen language, and if you lose your scroll - they will say everything in english. It's possible, as some places, like for instance rocks or graves changes their text when you have a quest item.

Why's that important? Well it isn't, unless you want to make other transations. And it's worth doing it, if u want to make a really good server.
