Do they disappear after use? Im talking about the normal ones not the shadow.

no, not shadow items dont dissapire after you use the skill (big head, fireworks) (dunno about "event" hats, but dont think they will dissapire after skill use aswell).
(had a wizard hat - fireworks on x30)
