NCSoft announced today at the press event at Gstar 2011 expo the new installment in the lineage franchise you might call it lineage 3 i suppose and going to have diablo 3 look and camera view

It's called lineage eternal, it may contain Lineage lore, but it doesn't mean it has anything to do with Lineage 2. It proly is a totally different game genre, most likely hack & slash (dablo II, diablo III, titan quest, etc.). Anyway ...

they did say its a sequel to lineage so it has to do everything with L1 & L2 and it doesnt matter if its hack n slash or fps or 3rd person game or w/e they going to make in the future as long as it has lineage lore in it

I second that its called Lineage Eternal because it has Lineage Lore in it, but they'll continue to make L2, since NCSoft told that there are multiple expansions already planned following the release GoD - The Awakening, since it is a new chapter all together in L2.

To keep the cash flow in for them, this "Lineage Eternal" should be updated at the same time as L2 provided that they keep both

Korea have already the new update on pts for Lineage II, called Harmony. Also please remember that NCsoft have many groups that working on different titles (Aion, Lineage 2, Blade & Soul, WildStar, etc...) and not only on Lineage II, so this game have a very bright future in Korea and it's future outside of Korea depends only on the producers how they will handle the game (Innova for RU/EU seems quite successful in this matter).

So LE:TR can be called L3 (chronology) and this game have the roots of L1. Too many credits goes for Diablo for nothing (don't get it wrong Diablo is a fantastic game, but have nothing to do with LE:TR )

If I remember it, L2 Lore was set 150 before Lineage 1.

ok known stuff of Lineage Eternal:

- uses new game engine developed entirely by NCSoft
- sequel in Lineage franchise and is set 200 years in the future after the events of Lineage 1
- game is in development for 3 years
P.S has nothing to do with Lineage Forever that is rumored since year 2000
- on the game atm works about 80 people from the NCSoft Team Eternal
- game is using isometric play style (like diablo, ultima online, lineage 1 etc) camera can be also zoomed or turned around
- non-target combat system with use of new technology of hold n drag skills
- so far 3 classes known male knight & elemental (spirit) archer and female wizard (in plan are 5-6 classes)
P.S. if you watched the video towards the end you can see a 4th class another female mage class with black armor, silver/white hair and dark skin tone (god i hope its dark elf )
- destructible environment (setting things on fire, exploding barrels etc)
P.S. most epic moment as it was seen in video by this is when the knight picked up the bowl of fire throws it on the tent and sets it on fire and then the mobs ran out all on fire  
- interactive environment and it will have a major role in combat (like picking up objects and trowing them, climbing walls, using hooks to move, using levers for open doors etc)
- large scale sieges
- beta testing is set for second half of 2012
- game is developed as a global project (it was already confirmed that its planned to be released in japan)

If I remember it, L2 Lore was set 150 before Lineage 1.

it was supposed to use it but was in the end scrapped after the source code incident and is now made entirely out of a new engine that nc built
and yes L2 is a prequel to L1 that was set 150 years in the past with prelude and with GOD now the time frame is 70 years in the future of L2 prelude (80 years in the past from L1)

Extremely impressed by that gameplay video.
What i don't like and i hope i am wrong, is that from what the commentator said it looks like pvp will only be seen in arenas and in small numbers, no more mass pvp.
