How to play L2 rpg-club on linux (ubuntu)

yes, it works but i wasn't asking this i mean without game/vga setups, are any way to improve performance for l2 or any other game? maybe ishould say, Are any way to stop some process to get better performance?

There's actually nothing that could help. L2 works like crap even on Windows and working with Wine implementation of Windows API won't help here. ATI doesn't help as well with their drivers. I guess you'd have better performance with nVidia card what much better supported but also don't expect miracles. If you want to play L2 for real, you have to either dual-boot or use separate machine for gaming, that's all.

Regarding Windows - Linux flames, if you're not a gamer and don't need Windows-only software then Linux is more than fine for daily work/web/developing. There's no point in discussing which OS is better and why.

well u can buy SSD hdd that would make game run more smoothly especially at sieges/mass pvp.

Diego Vargas: Open L2.EXE in CFF explorer and enable the binary flag "App can handle >2GB memory" and save.

Use a custom unencrypted L2.INI by passing L2.EXE -INI=yourL2.ini on the command line and change CacheSizeMegs=32 to CacheSizeMegs=2048

The former will allow the L2 executable to allocate > 2gb memory.
The latter will allow the L2 executable to actually use >2gb memory.

If you dont understand what I am talking about and/or cant figure it out based on what I posted then just upgrade your hardware as mentioned in the OP.

All these helps, but not really on Linux where you're preety much "emulating" Windows game on non-Windows system w/ DirectX being translated to OpenGL. That's the problem and Wine handle some games more than fine, but L2 isn't one of them, been there, done that since C3, now it's even worse with every new client getting higher hardware requirements ;-)

I play on Linux on this server with no problem.

Linux: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Wine ver: 1.2
Update work's.

Every thing works (I need to change some L2 shortcuts). Game works very bad but it is foul of my comp spec (Dell XPS 1210 with GeForce Go 7400 64MB).

install wine

install winetricks

open winetricks

and tick dotnet30 to install NET framework

Step 4
go to - ->applications - ->wine - -> Brows c:
open  /windows/fonts, and copy this file in to font folder

now copy rpgupdater.exe in to lineage II folder
and run it with wine.
