100gbs is fastest ethernet they created, or they are still working on it, i read some time ago usa put shitload of money into that project
optical fiber is pretty much unlimited when it comes to transfer - fastest they made for commercial ussage (as far as i know) is 24tb/s while in laboratories its possible to create up to 100+ tb/s easily. the problem with so fast connection is what to do with it.
