Hello.

As I mentioned before, after the english patch update, the font has been messed up for EVERY html in the game. It seems that the html box for everything has been retracted horizontally, making the text hard to read. Here is a before and after screenshot:

As you can see, the box size was reduced, making it cut off most of the words. This wasn't there before the update and it is VERY annoying seeing ALL texts this way, including items, weapons, etc.

Please fix this! Thank you.

urug

Box size is OK, but clauses( <p> you know) are missing in HTML.

Awpolt

What? This is also happening with item descriptions, skills and whatnot. This wasn't here before the update. My guess is that because we use the auto updater, it automatically changes the box to the Russian size and uses English htmls instead?

it's not server's hmtl <p> tags or anything. it's completely client-side, and it is the price for having 2 languages at the same time.

currently, localization is set to Japanese (which doesnt bother with words integrity, cause it's hieroglyphic), and English is added by EnableEngSelection=true as additional. so it's not formatted properly, but in "Japanese style".

i don't know yet how to fix this, cause setting "English" as native disables other languages:

case LANG_English:
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "English" );
break;

almost all other languages are hieroglyphic too, so it's the same stuff. as for setting Russian in localization.ini, it's not even covered in interface.u so its just disables lang selection combobox, making it empty:

bEnableEngSelection = IsEnableEngSelection();
Language = GetLanguage();
switch( Language )
{
case LANG_None:
break;
case LANG_Korean:
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "Korean" );
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "English" );
if( bEnableEngSelection )
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.EnableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
else
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.DisableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
break;
case LANG_English:
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "English" );
break;
case LANG_Japanese:
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "Japanese" );
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "English" );
if( bEnableEngSelection )
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.EnableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
else
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.DisableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
break;
case LANG_Taiwan:
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "Chinese(Taiwan)" );
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "English" );
if( bEnableEngSelection )
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.EnableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
else
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.DisableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
break;
case LANG_Chinese:
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "China" );
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "English" );
if( bEnableEngSelection )
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.EnableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
else
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.DisableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
break;
case LANG_Thai:
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "Thai" );
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "English" );
if( bEnableEngSelection )
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.EnableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
else
class'UIAPI_WINDOW'.static.DisableWindow( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox" );
break;
case LANG_Philippine:
class'UIAPI_COMBOBOX'.static.AddString( "OptionWnd.LanguageBox", "English" );
break;
default:
break;
}

looking for a workaround. :3

Awpolt

Thank you for the quick reply Aibo!

I see now what it is :). Please do not give up on trying to fix this. This issue is really irritating.

....
So let language ingame non-optional and there could be a function in updater, where we choose language and updater download files depending on our selected language.

Aibo

im not an admin, i just try to fix this cause it's client-side.

as for changing the updater, ask LagysFey about it. :3

I send him this:
"Hi, I write on the recommendation of Aibo. I think you just should know about the problem with alignmenting text of NPC if you use Japanese(English) languge ingame. This problem maybe should be consider at creating your updater.
There is what I talk about: https://forumen.rpg-club.net/index.php?topic=41.0

Thank you."

as a temp fix:

1) updater's options with file exceptions already set (place it in l2 main folder): http://pixelterror.ru/l2/rpgupdater.ini
with these settings updater wont replace localization.ini file and english systemmsg-z.dat.

2) correct localization file (english language only, place it in l2 system folder): http://pixelterror.ru/l2/en/localization.ini

3) and for those missing color chat, dowload and replace: http://pixelterror.ru/l2/en/systemmsg-z.dat (not the best, but)

localization and file codes are set to english/-z so if you're installing any other patches, replace not the *-e.dat, but *-z.dat files.
and dont forget to add exception in updater's options (ie: "system/blahblahblah-z.bla", folder name is required)

P.S.: only-russian localization (for fans :3): http://pixelterror.ru/l2/ru/localization.ini

I have done what you said and I got this:

hm. i'll doublecheck the files. you've got korean localization enabled (there's a NCOTP option in login window) and probably missing sysstring-z.dat file. can you post your l2 "system" file list?

update:

i've checked the files, works fine. try to open options and change language to english, if there is (3rd button, 2nd tab, 1st dropdown menu ). and maybe run the updater again.

also check for *-z.dat files in system folder, they must be there.

and you MUST patch and update the client, files i posted ONLY for fixing current word/line break issues with updated double-language client.

PS: if anyone else used these files, and they worked correctly (or not) - dont hesitate to post here. :3

Awpolt

Hello. Yes, I have all those files in the system folder. I ran the game again and did what you said and it won't allow me to change the language to English. Its grayed out in Korean.

Aibo

can you post your localization.ini from system folder?
because grayed out language selector means EnableEngSelection is disabled, and it shouldn't be with correct localization.ini :/
and even with korean set, i have changed its filecode to -z, so if sysstring-z.dat exists - there shouldnt be any empty text.

all i can guess is that you have wrong localization.ini with disabled english and which points korean to original -k.dat files.

just in case, have you downloaded this: http://pixelterror.ru/l2/en/localization.ini to the right place and replaced the existing one?

Like i said someone should upload a full patch so we dont need to run autoupdater

Awpolt

Errr, about the link; is it a downloadable link or just a text-based link? When I click on it it prompts me to text in unicode format and not a download. Anyhow,
If so, I copy-pasted it into the ini file and it warned me about the unicode thing. Maybe thats the problem?

i guess this is not an option. client files must be up to date, cause of events and all that, at least for other servers beside x30.

on the other hand - noone makes you use updater all the time, you can download the patch, run the updater once, apply fix for english verison wordbreaks, and off you go, delete or move the updater and run l2.exe. :3

until something goes wrong - like antibot update or whatever.

yup that is. :3 cause file is encoded on top of that.
and further research showed, that resetting to korean can be caused by missing or broken localization.ini

just right click the link http://pixelterror.ru/l2/en/localization.ini
choose "save as" (or something like, depending on your browser)
and save it to Lineage/system folder, overwriting if there is one already.

same goes for the other files i've posted.

Awpolt

Ahhh thank you so much for your help! It works now :). The problem was indeed the ini file. In the future however, will it be included in the English patch?

Aibo

in future i hope (and not only me, i guess) we'll make the dual-language patch work properly, with english line breaking rules. *)
