Nothing to do with hardware guy or something like that. It's common sense to run a server or important "pc" with some kind of backup. Imagine some module on the SSD gonna blow up again and have fun to recover the data from it (aka 100% Wipe).

Yeah that's right and it's not administration problem because as they said the server is not theirs it's  rented and it's situated elsewhere.. it's the same thing to use web-hosting server to create your own site and if that server goes down your site goes down as well and so you can only guess when it will be fixed and will be back online and it is good to wait a while before you are sure the problems are fixed and this way you may prevent some data loss..

I don't know what you understand as "safe mode", because if they really had a HDD Problem today (actually I don't believe it) it kinda makes me think if it is worth to play this server again. Serious a Datacenter that doesn't offer something like a RAID, network backup or some kind of shadow image backup on another HDD for a Server is just fail.

Yeah it's kinda tricky stuff to have server rented and have no idea when issues are about to be fixed when they occur but ffs we have to agree with the admins that it's better to play on safe ground.. so I,m up for the 24 hours of waiting and I really don't think it's pointless so cry more and leave the guys to to their best as they did before =]
