For so many years I've tried variations on that classic mirrorshades trope, the cold, just business, sociopath. As a teen I played that trope too straight. Later I added moral codes and more complex relationships. There's a cool character there, but it always seemed just out of reach. It always seemed too stilted, too edgy, false.
