Title: Questions regarding Upcoming Server hardware configuration
Post by: Aurelius on October 21, 2010, 02:35:00 AM
Is it possible that admins can share the hardware configuration for the new server?
Also, will it have the same settings as x5? That being max capacity of 5k online?

Last time you had a good start (first half a day, excluding the login server ddos in first 2 hours) when server worked nicely. But after that we had a week of ddos and sh1ty playable conditions. Are you better prepared this time? DDoS attacks are bound to happen, it's a given. We hope you are well prepared this time!

SSD equipped and "two 12x cpu's" which i don't really know what it means, maybe cores. Anyway, idea is that you shouldn't worry about sloppy performance : ) unless of course, we get DDoS'ed, which i hope it won't happen.

every new server gets ddos attacks, even the shitty ones. so its going to happen, it only depends, how fast admins can solve it. Afterx5 start, was realy smooth for 2 days, but ater ddos started, and for like 4 days was hell, not a game.

Imo hardware looks powerful enough to easily hold 5k players but in case of a DDoS, not much can be done :( just wait for attackers to stop.

Doubt it people with dynamic IPs are voting everyday or anytime they want to check the poll since you have to vote to see what the scores are.

I'd say about 2k+ are people who voted multiple times

there are going to be a lot of players, dont worry.

for the ddos, there are datacenter solutions and the possebility to block all scopes and release them after, checking for the traffic. Thats some work but will do ^_______^

Fixing DDoS is not RPG's staff job. The datacenter where the server is located has to block it. Forgot the name of the datacenter where rpg servers are located :(
