Title: About using a custom systemmsg-e.
Post by: Ennis on August 16, 2010, 02:08:24 PM
I'm looking forward to use a customized systemmsg-e file, which would mean just changing just stuff such as having the damage dealt appear in green, damage received in red, and such trivial stuff. The thing is, I downloaded a customized file posted here in this forum, and whenever I run the RPG-Club Updater to join the server, it gets replaced by the original. By common sense, the only way to log in without having it replaced should be by bypassing the updater, but it's forbidden to do so.

Players must start the game only through official RPG-Club updater.[

...

Then my question is. Is it forbidden to use customized system files? Or there is some way to get the updater not to replace it every time I try to login? As I said before, the only idea I have is to login without going through the updater, but since it shouldn't be done that way... I think there's another way. :/

Is it legal to use those files? I might be interested in them as well, would be very useful for my dominator to see on a mass pvp when my debuffs land or not.

It;s just 1 file , not "files". And i think 99% use customized systemmsg.

It's allowed and you don't even have to make these files read-only. There's an exception list in updater and you can find more info here (https://forumen.rpg-club.net/index.php?topic=29.msg388#msg388).

Simply open notepad and paste:
[Options]
ProxyType=1
ProxyAddress=
ProxyPort=0
ProxyUser=
ProxyPass=
AutoUpdate=0
AutoRun=0
ExceptFiles=system/systemmsg-e.dat;

Save as "rpgupdater.ini" in game folder.
I think you can add any file to exception list.
