So I know a lot of people play at LAN centers/cafes, roommates and proxy users.
Genocide being predominately from NA, we'll have to use a proxy to connect to the Russian server in order to avoid having 200-300 ping, meaning we'll have 50+ clients on 1 IP.
Now if the GMs ban for having more than 3 clients per 1 IP or even worse, implement an autoban for having more than 3 clients per IP how are all these players going to play?
This needs to be addressed before the server launches because an automated program to detect multiple clients per IP will result in many players not being able to play this server.
If this has already been addressed or is just another "stupid idea" feel free to delete this.
Thanks
please keep ur stupid ideas to urself american.
/delete
only in RUSSIA.
anyway I use a proxy to connect, so does a few people in my clan. didn't run into any problems or nothing. best solution would be locating the server in the USA or somewhere closer to the entire world

Nah, it has to do with the "antibot" business that is being worked on.
If they will set it up to only block MAC addresses from having more than 3 clients then everyone will be fine. But if its going to be IP, we're all screwed.

i was quoting the gm that locked up cj's last thread and im sure he wanted to add the "americans" at the end :D
anyway I guess if what cj is true then needs a fix. honestly playing w/o proxy i got 250 ping and its a pretty horrible gameplay.

i have 2 PCs with the same IP and the same MAC, for me and my bro its not a solution
MAC-Spoofing ftw
i hope the anti-bot system just verify the mac id, and not "internet ip" :P so the proxy will not be a problem ;p

actually for most of the players here, Moscow is as close as it gets ;)
yea but theres nothing like comcast.
Doesn't proxy just make ping higher not lower? I remember when it was DDOS attack's on all servers including RPG we had to connect over proxy to server and it was giving really high ping.

lol, depends on proxy server you are using.

Yes i know, but back then there was a list given by Gm's what proxies to use and those that were given had over 400 ping.
just dont write about things u dont have a clue
splicho, the ccie #1337..
yeah lol

About MAC...
1st problem...MAC adress is throwed away on the first router. (in other words is replaced by the MAC adress of the router)
2nd problem...there is no garantion that its unique

like i said i have 2 PCs with the same MAC address
So basically an automated program to prevent multiple accounts per IP/MAC address will only result in blocking many legit players from being able to play.
thats why its not a solution

congratz
only solution is something like kasha-loader (http://www.kasha-malaga.es/) or azuregaming protection, but there is no solution for more pc's (only ingame checking, but try to check 2k+ ppl)

ol you are acting like you know everything about everyone and about no matter what discussion is about. I remember how it was when server had problems and had to use proxy cose all address were banned, and you were able to connect only with some proxy addresses that were given by Administrator as option. Read a bit better in future, when i said "proxy makes higher ping" i was talking about example that they gave last time in case that would be the solution once again it would make people lag, but once again i don't troll the forums as much as you do so i might have missed some topics where you were brainwashing other ppl.
as network certified person yes, i know what im talking about

I believe there could be a solution based on MAC, but a bit complicated and not very user friendly.
The loader have to chcek your MAC adress, save it in text form and send it to the database server. There the MAC adress is compared with other adresses in database. If there is more than three same MAC adresses, loader respond something like "You have more than three logged account, if not please change your MAC adress." It could also generate new MAC which isnt in database yet and of course there should by manual how to change MAC or better it could create a script which do that.
Maybe another solution could be based on something like HW fingerprint....

everything would be fine if not that i must have the same MACs on both PCs

if you have the same MAC on 2 PC's they can't connect to the same router/hub at the same time, what are you talking about...........

1st pc is connected to router and 2nd pc is connected to 1st pc - both have the same mac address changed manually for my peronal needs
with such config u will see 2 same MACs and 2 same IPs. Impossible?
bridging trough network card :-\
mek try to turn it off and on
Whatever they do to stop people, others will get around it. You realistically cant limit people through IPs or mac addresses because they arent unique at all. Its a lost cause.
