Title: LAN question
Post by: yoker on May 24, 2011, 11:54:13 AM
At the beginning - Im not a network specialist. Its just my assumption.
Every week I meet with 3 fellas at house of my friend. He has router with wi-fi, we all have wifi in laptops. As I said Im not a specialist but I think we all have the same IP (router's adress). 4 ppl = at least 4 clients and its allowed to log only 3 accounts from one IP at once. The question is: are we breaking the rule? I heard that in some cases whole block of flats have the same IP.

From my house two people play pretty much every day from the same IP. I think the rule is "3 clients/person" not "3 clients/ip". Even so, I would like to hear an official response to this too :)

3 clients per 1 real person, no matter if you have the same IP.

and if you all have the same IP how can you prove there are actually 4 people and not lets say 7 clients on 1 PC? :P

there is many ways to obtain more info than just IP, I dont know how it works in Lineage 2 / RPG CLUB so cant tell u, but its possible.

7 clients on 1 PC = one MAC address and one IP
7 clients on 7 PC = seven MAC address and one IP

Yeah, thats what I thought about but I really dunno if RPG stuff has MACs addresses in their database.

But if you use router wi-fi in your home, it depends how it make, but sometimes all comp has MAC adres from router.

they can know everything since you have thier files, for example. the biggest multiplayer games league in the world (guess which), can obtain informations about  for example. your Hardware ID

edit1: I didn't mention that thier files (RPG) can do such thing, so I'm not sure if they can check your PC, but it is possible.
edit2: and yes, if its possible, they can do whatever they want if its mentioned in rules - you accepted it before entering this website ;)
